Strawberry LinoCut

Updated: Apr 28, 2023

Trying out a printing technique for the first time in years!

When I was in uni, my favorite room was the printing workshop. Screen printing, mono printing, letter press, everything. That workshop was very much a space to go to gain inspiration. There was always so much happening even when the room was empty - there would be artwork drying on every surface, paint trays and brushes soaking in the sink.

I hadn’t realized I missed this energy so much until I made the decision to start linocutting for my shop. I have been having issues with my hands and wrists lately; basically doing anything with them is very painful. Even typing at the moment, causes my wrists to be in pain. For this reason, I have been trying to think of ways I can keep creating even when I’m in too much pain and discomfort to crochet. From there, the idea to linocut came to mind. I had done some linocutting in uni, and I think in high school as well.

The idea was that once the stencil was made, even if it hurt to make the stencil, I could reuse that print over and over without pain to myself.

I’ve been working on a strawberry color palette, so I decided to keep the theme relevant.

Starting with just two tote bags, you can now find my first print in my Etsy shop!
